About this guide
This site is an information resource about distance learning. It uses the archived 2015 web presence of Branton University as a starting point for explaining how online degree, diploma and certificate programmes are usually organised, how fees and financial aid are normally discussed, and how a prospective student can check whether an institution and its accreditation are genuine.
It is not run by the institution, it does not take applications, it does not award qualifications and it does not offer scholarships or discounts. Any claims quoted from the archive describe how the institution presented itself at the time. They have not been independently verified here, and readers should treat them with the same caution they would apply to any promotional statement.
What the archived profile described
In 2015 the institution described itself as an online university with self-paced study, programmes grouped into a number of schools, and an international student body. It listed degree levels from associate to doctorate, plus diplomas and short certificates, and it highlighted career services, alumni networks and a series of press mentions.
Where to start

- A checklist before applying anywhere is the most useful page if you are comparing online options.
A note on due diligence
Online study can be a good fit for working adults, but the sector also contains providers whose recognition is weak or misrepresented. Before paying any fee to any provider, confirm the accrediting body in an official government or national recognition database, ask the registrar in writing how credits transfer, and check whether the qualification will be accepted by the employer or university you have in mind.
